Keep your eyes open for the club sign identifying the access to the range off the highway.  WE ARE USING A GATE FURTHER NORTH FROM BENDIGO THAN OUR NORMAL ENTRANCE.     An Important Safety Note: We have been made aware that some areas of the launch site, in addition to being recently sown, have been treated with slug poison. This poison is toxic not only to slugs, but also to humans and animals, if ingested. Whilst we normally welcome our four legged friends on a leash, we request that you please do not bring any animals to the range for this launch. Please also be prepared to supervise children closely. For members and guests staying on the flightline, any risk can be mitigated by following good hygiene practices, and driving at walking pace ONLY to keep the dust down. For those involved recovering rockets, we recommend the following PPC to minimise any contact with the pesticide, particularly when picking your rocket off the ground: - Long sleeved clothes - Nitrile gloves - N95 facemask - Safety glasses/sunglasses - Separate shoes for recovery The areas that have been treated will be clearly marked and communicated in the flyers safety briefing. The farmer has requested that we keep foot traffic on all paddocks to an absolute minimum to protect the recently sown seeds. To that end we will request that only one person per rocket (where feasible) is to proceed across the paddock on foot, with any additional support staying on the tracks and off the crops.   Registration Everyone that attends this event MUST register in advance using the registration button. Head on down to the Golden Gate Hotel on Tuesday April 30 to catch up with fellow members over a parm and a pint. This was also presented last year, and is being repeated for people that were not able to attend, and for new members. He will be presenting an overview of the Victorian Dangerous Goods (Explosives) regulations. This talk will focus on the key things you MUST know about the law, and how it affects you as a rocket motor user. If you have already seen this presentation, the rest of the evening will begin at 6:30pm. We have two more presentations lined up: RMIT will discuss the upcoming AURC competition. They will show their five sub-systems and how they plan to test/verify them to ensure safety and success. They'll also briefly talk about the progress the team has made thus far and their plans going forward. Melbourne Uni will be discussing recent research and testing on recovery, mainly insights from people in the skydiving industry. They have a supporter of the team who is a professional parachute rigger and has been helping adapt skydiving philosophies to rocketry.   Registration Is Essential: This event is for VRA members and also anyone that has an interest in these topics.  Registration to attend is essential so that we can manage numbers at the venue.

Presentation The hunt for the purple rocket - by Nick Florent Most of us have lost rockets in the past and have walked the fields in vein looking for them. Lost rockets can be hazadeous to the land owner, their livestock, and their machinary. We also invest a significant amount of time and money into building rocket and we want to get them back. I will be discussing the lessons we learnt locating a ‘misplaced’ rocket and techniques we found bennifical. We encourage our rocketry community to attend this event.  It not only helps you participate in the running of the club, but also helps us cover the costs of hiring the venue as we have to achieve a minimum spend by participants for food and drinks to subsidise our costs.
